Chora Sfakion is a small fishing village at the southcoast of Crete, close to the Libyan Sea. It is the main village of all the Region of the Sfakia. The village Chora Sfakion has about 400 habitans . Main buisness in Chora Sfakion is the tourism and also  sheep and goat keeping  and fishing.

Chora Sfakion is well known for tourism but its still quiet enough to have nice holidays. Chora Sfakion ist ein kleiner Fischerort an der Südküste Kretas, direkt am libyschen Meer. Es ist auch der Hauptort des ganzen Bezirkes Sfakia. Chora Sfakion, meist auch nur Sfakiá genannt hat etwa 400 Einwohner. Viele der Einheimischen leben vom Tourismus, andere von der Schafs-und Ziegenhaltung oder auch von der Fischerei.

Sfakia ist für den Tourismus recht bekannt, aber dennoch ist es sehr ruhig. Optimal für einen ganz faulen ruhigen Strandurlaub, oder auch für Wanderer, denn von Sfakiá aus erreicht man wunderschöne Schluchten, wie die Aradena Schlucht, die Imbros Schlucht…..oder die ganz bekannte Samaria Schlucht. Oder man wandert in die Weißen Berge, zum Beispiel auf den Pachnes….oder der Küste entlang, von Chora Sfakion, nach Loutro, Agia Roumeli und dann noch weiter in den Westen nach Sougia, Paleochora….

In Chora Sfakion ist man aber auch als Familie mit kleinen Kindern bestens aufgehoben….es gibt einen klasse Ortsstrand, Vrisses-Beach, oder etwa 15 Min entfernt in Frangokastello wunderschöne Sandstrände.

An Unterkünften und Tavernen mangelt es in Chora Sfakion auch nicht…..verschiedene Größen, Zimmer-Studios-Apartments alles vorhanden!
